DORMA Aust Newsletter June 2006: EL301 Innovation - taking the industry by storm
 DORMA Automatics has just unveiled its latest innovation: the 01 Series range of automatic sliding door operators. This premium quality automatic door solution is ideal for security-conscious, high pedestrian traffic flow venues such as airports, banks, petrol stations, hospitals and shopping centres.
Designed and manufactured at DORMA’s Australian head office in Melbourne, the 01 Series is a result of several years of R & D, and feedback from client consultations.
Kevin Blacow, Product Technical Manager and co-designer of the new product explains: “Before going to market, we asked our corporate clients, architects, fabricators and our service agent network to tell us what they wanted from a high quality - automatic door system. Consequently, we incorporated their requests and produced a top-end product that guarantees to exceed market needs.”
Key highlights of the revolutionary 01 Series include:
• The most efficient opening and closing torque (speed) in the marketplace, thereby aiding a building’s internal climate control;
• A fully integrated UPS system which means that if power fails, the doors will continue to operate;
• A sleek and stylishly designed aluminium curved fascia complimented with discreet and compact microwave movement sensors
• Customer mode pad with simple one touch operation (optional extra). This compact device with LCD display provides useful information such as the number of operator cycles, service scheduling, fault diagnostics, control of security settings and the ability to enable one of three customer warning alarms.
• A built-in people counter which can provide powerful management data (via the mode pad) such as tracking visitor numbers – which affect internal lighting, heating and staffing requirements.
The 01 Series range of operators have also been designed so compatibility with earlier models is guaranteed via specific 01 series upgrade packages.
The 01 Series has already been installed into major sites all over Australia, and Craig Wood, DORMA Automatics National Sales Manager, envisages huge potential for this pioneering product: “The 01 Series is ideal for both internal and external entrances. It provides exceptional security and monitoring features and can operate medium to large size framed/frameless glass, timber, solid core and cool room door applications.”
